Thank you for your interest in mediate! We’re a new organisation which is set up to be run by and for local communities. For many years the government has ‘consulted’ the public in a tokenistic way, giving little power to citizens in changing the things which affect their lives. We want to change this to ensure that people can see the results of their actions taking effect in their community. We also want to ensure that the most vulnerable of society, those least likely to participate, have a voice.
What do we do?
We build trust and cooperation between citizens, enable the most vulnerable in society to take part and enable all citizens to take equal responsibility in shaping solutions to local problems.
We organise, engage and mediate in local communities to instil neighbourliness in taking collective action, to build trust between citizens and political institutions and to foster tolerance, cooperation and respect for individual differences.
Mediate promotes a new approach to politics, community development and civic engagement which builds relationships and activates society’s greatest assets in the decision making which affects local people’s lives. We exist to ensure all voices are heard, not just those who shout the loudest.
